KCC OMAN CONDEMNS MOOLAKKATT FORMULA

Dear loving Bishop Joseph Pandarasseril,

The members of the Knanaya Catholic Congress of Oman would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude for your recent visit to Muscat. We do really appreciate your charisma and enthusiasm in upholding our tradition and community feelings.

This was very clear from your speech and you made it explicitly clear about your official stand about endogamy and Your Excellency has assured us that it is not likely to change in the near future. Your words were so encouraging to all of us and we really felt and we still feel that our community is safe and secure in your hands. 

Unfortunately, we were all surprised, shocked and worried when we heard a declaration by our dear Arch Bishop Mathew Moolakkattu regarding Knanaya membership during his pastoral visit to US.  It is purely a deviation from our stand that we have taken to protect our community through endogamy.  We do understand the pressures from different sides but we have successfully resisted all these for centuries and we are capable of resisting them even today. A discussion about this issue was going on for quite some time but a decision was not taken so far.

The recent statement by our Bishop may create a serious confusion in our community and it can even be a threat to our community. In this context, we wish to express our serious concern. We will be grateful if you can give us a clarification about this issue and we appreciate your earnest efforts in taking us into confidence in all your activities.  We wish you good luck for all your future endeavours and assure you our prayers and whole hearted support.
