Knannaite’s faith is extremely high and that may be the only reason for their adventurous and successful migration during the early 4th century, crossing dangerous seas to reach an unknown land. They landed at Kodungallor to spread the good news and support the existing converted Christians both morally and spiritually. But thereafter Knannaite’s growth (in number) is not as good as other Christians in Kerala as well as other parts of the world.
World’s seven billionth person was born in India on 31st October 2011, ever increasing. I’m sure this is not a concern for UK Knannaites but there are about 2.30 billion Christians in this world making roughly around 1/3rd of world population (33% of world population are Christians). This is an amazing figure considering the fact that, Christianity, a movement started with just one person and his twelve disciples, it was an absolute minority with few group of people, until Constantine, the emperor of Rome approved it in AD 313. Another 17 centuries later, it has become the major religion of the world and this astonishing growth is not only just because of human effort, but with the unseen but omnipresent heavenly support. Historians states that, Christian’s Inherited mercy and concern for the poor, which is the only reason for this success, which is again purely inherited from Jesus Christ.
Christians are followers of Jesus Christ, who gave up his life on the Cross, for the sake of his people, to save his people and to forgive their sins. In return Christians are expected to live the way Jesus taught them, Early Christian followers devoted their life to spread good news and stood firmly against all forms of suppressions. Apart from the heavenly bureaucratic intervention through Constantine, people embraced Christianity because of the care and support for the sick and the needy, by the followers of Jesus Christ which increased the faith in Christians and Christianity. Confirmed examples from the early days are those devastating out breaks of Plagues in 2nd, 3rd, and sixth centuries, during which Christian followers practically demonstrated the way of Jesus and love of Jesus.
Along with the time, Charity, the Christian theological concept of unlimited love and kindness has become the back bourn of the community. Christian missionaries travelled to remotest locations not only to spread the good news but to help and support the poor and the needy. All those great 400 Knannaites were part of that Christian missionary and charity work.
Initial Christian medical charities, further extended its work in various other areas of education, farming, income generation and now a major agent facilitating justice for the poor. Many of the other world religions adopted our charitable agenda and purposes to gain people support and confidence.
In 2000 years time, we the Christians could reach out to each and everyone in this world and could promote the word Charity to be associated with Jesus Christ.
Now it’s high time for us, the UK Knannaites, to relate that magic word Charity with UKKCA.
