മാക്ബെത്തും, വെട്ടുവേലിലച്ചനും പിന്നെ മുത്തോലത്തച്ചനും

 രക്തംപുരണ്ട കൈകള്‍ 

ഷേക്ക്‌സ്പിയര്‍ പല തത്വചിന്തകളും കാണികളുടെ മുമ്പില്‍ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നത് ആത്മഗതങ്ങളിലൂടെയാണ്. Shakespearean Soliloquies.

തന്റെ കൊട്ടാരത്തില്‍ വിരുന്നുകാരനായി വന്ന രാജാവിനെ മാക്ബെത്തും ഭാര്യയും ചേര്‍ന്ന് വധിക്കുന്നു. അതോടെ മാക്ബെത്തിന്റെ മാനസിക സമനില തെറ്റുകയായി. തകര്‍ന്ന ആ ദുരന്തനായകന്‍റെ ഒരു ആത്മഗതം –

If it were done when ’tis done, then ’twere well

It were done quickly: if the assassination

Could trammel up the consequence, and catch

With his surcease success; that but this blow

Might be the be-all and the end-all here,

But here, upon this bank and shoal of time,

We’ld jump the life to come. But in these cases

We still have judgment here; that we but teach

Bloody instructions, which, being taught, return

To plague the inventor: this even-handed justice

Commends the ingredients of our poison’d chalice

To our own lips.

നമ്മള്‍ തന്നെ തയ്യാറാക്കിയ വിഷം നീതി നമ്മുടെതന്നെ ചുണ്ടിലേയ്ക്ക് ഒഴിക്കുമെന്ന്!

നെപ്പോളിയന്‍ ചക്രവര്‍ത്തിയുടെ പതനെത്തെക്കുറിച്ചോര്‍ക്കുമ്പോള്‍ നമ്മുടെ മനസ്സിലേയ്ക്ക് വരുന്നത് വാട്ടര്‍ലൂ എന്ന സ്ഥലപ്പേരാണ്. അതുപോലെ ദുരന്തനായകനായിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന മുത്തോലത്തിന്റെ പതനം ആരംഭിച്ചത് മയാമിയിലാണ്. പാവങ്ങളായ ക്നാനയക്കാരെ വേണ്ടവിധത്തില്‍ വഞ്ചിച്ചില്ല എന്ന കുറ്റത്തിന് നാടുകടത്തപ്പെട്ട വെട്ടുവേലിലച്ചന്റെ ശാപം, മുത്തോലത്തിനെ വേട്ടയാടുകയാണ്. അദ്ദേഹം ഇന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ തന്നെ Ingredients of his poisoned chalice കുടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

മുത്തോലതിന്റെ വാട്ടര്‍ലൂ ആയ മയാമിയില്‍ നിന്ന് അതിശക്തമായ തിരിച്ചടി അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ലഭിക്കുന്നത് സ്വാഭാവികനീതിയാണ്. അത് ഇതാ സംഭവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു!

വെറും പ്രതിക്ഷേധമല്ല. പ്രകടമായ ഭാഷയില്‍ (ഷേക്ക്‌സ്പീറിയന്‍ ഭാഷയില്‍ പറഞ്ഞാല്‍, As Clear As the Path to the Parish Church) മയാമിക്കാര്‍ അങ്ങാടിയത്ത് പിതാവിന് എഴുതി:

ഈ ഇടവകജനത്തിനു സ്വീകാര്യമായ ഒരു തീരുമാനം ഉണ്ടാകുന്നതുവരെ ഒരു പുതിയ വൈദികനെ ഇങ്ങോട്ട് വിട്ടാല്‍, അതിന്റെ സകല ചെലവും ചിക്കാഗോ സീറോമലബാര്‍ രൂപത തന്നെ വഹിക്കേണ്ടി വരുമെന്നു.

ഇത്ര ശക്തമായ ഒരു തീരുമാനം എടുത്തതിനു മയാമിയിലെ ഓരോ ക്നാനയക്കാരനും ക്നാനായ വിശേഷങ്ങളുടെ അഭിനന്ദനങ്ങള്‍.

In response to your recent pastoral letter, Prot. No.6/2012 dated December 20^th 2012, the Knanaya Catholic Association of South Florida strongly rejects the membership criteria mentioned in the pastoral letter.  Therefore we are not going to support any priest in St. Jude Knanaya Catholic Mission in South Florida until finding a resolution acceptable to Knanaya Catholic Community.  If a new priest appointed as the mission director it is the sole responsibility of the Chicago Syro Malabar Diocese to meet the financial and other needs of the mission director.
