Dear Knanites abroad,
When Diampur Synod ( Udayamperoor Soonahados) took place back in AD.1599 under the leadership of Roman Bishop Dom-Menessis, Roman Hierarchy knew that Knanites are different, they are Southists and they are endogamous.
Back in AD.1657, the Roman Apostolic Commissioner to Malankara Fr. Joseph Sebastiani wrote a letter to Rome saying that "Great Dom-Menessis tried and failed and it is impossible to mix Northists & Southists in one common church because Knanites are endogamous, and their tradition, culture and heritage are different.
When Pope Pious the 10th granted the Vicariath of Kottayam to Knanites, he knew very well that Knanites are different & endogamous. So, Knayism and Southist community's endogamous nature are not something new to Rome.
